Read all about it...

Hi Gang,

After a long winter that by the way seems not to be over, we are trying to think Spring! And spring will bring a new major project for us that we are hoping to finish before the summer season. Yes, just when we get our heads above water, we shall take another plunge.

Do your remember our old 200 year old barn that was in what is now our parking lot? Well we need to put it back up before it rots in our field. We also need to deal with the fact that we have no lobby!!! We have no proper box office or merchandise area, a major congestion problem at the bar and entrance, and nowhere for all of you to socialize ....and you LOVE to socialize!! I think that's one of the best parts about this place.

Anyway, barn doctor Scott Campbell of Maine Mountain Post and Beam who lovingly took down our barn, will help us take care of both those problems. Yes, hopefully this spring, Scott will put that old girl back up, and he Jeff, Dave and Andy, will attach it to SMAC and make it a beautiful lobby area. It will house a large bar for Dave and Katy and if in the budget a stone fireplace is in the plan as well. It will be a great place to belly up to the bar, or just mingle before the shows and at intermission.

There will be a real box office for Marlies and Suzy and a ton of room for artist merchandise. All our artists have loved coming here, but have been less than thrilled about the merchandise selling situation. Now they can spread out and you can browse a little more comfortably. It will also give us an extra serving area for the bigger shows and weddings. This will be the room you can chat and move around in comfortably without being shushed or moved out of the way!!! I think our wait staff will be the most grateful : >) They get pretty beat up trying to get in and out of the kitchen and bar areas. You have all been terrific sports about it, but its really time we made it more comfortable for everyone. This will also in the end generate more income for us per show, which will help us thrive and survive.

Jeff is very excited about this. He even has a cool idea of inlaying old record jackets like tiles into the floor, poly the heck out of it, and make a huge musical tribute to vinyl, right under your feet! He and Scott have been brainstorming for weeks about this project.....geez we gotta put them to work soon, or they will drive Marlies and I batty.

By the way, did I mention that Scott Campbell is married to our own Marlies. We are so lucky to have them in our Stone Mountain family. They are a very special young couple with their own special dreams. And boy, is this place full of people like that!!!<>

Anyway....so how will we pay for this? Buying lots of tickets to shows is a good start. Buying tickets to the "Barn Raiser" is even better. 200 tickets sold will get the barn back up and closed in. The rest is my poor husband's labor. If we add a second "Barn Raiser" we will be able to finish it. I know its a lotta money and I know I am no Mary Chapin Carpenter, or even one Indigo girl.....but geez check this out....the ticket will include:

Me, Missy Carol Noonan in Concert with guitartist Duke Levine (and who knows who else might drop by!)

my imfamous spaghetti dinner including a glass of house wine

my new album/DVD to be sent to you upon completion sometime this fall (valued at 25.00)

Oh, and a small presentation by the handsome barn doctor himself, Scott Campbell . He will tell you all about this old barn, complete with unbridled enthusiasm and a slide show.

It will be a real community night out....elbow to elbow.... neighbors and friends from away. All of us there together to support a grand idea even grander. I think we can all agree that this little place has given us all way more than we ever dreamed of. Hope you can continue to support that dream and make the Stone Mountain Arts Center the most spectacular place it can be.
