SMAC News: New lobby/old barn   We're on TV!

Hi Gang,

After a long winter that by the definitely went out with a bang, we are trying to think Spring! And spring will bring a new major project for us that we are hoping to finish before the summer season. Yes, just when we get our heads above water, we shall take another plunge.

Do your remember our old 200 year old barn that was in what is now our parking lot? Well we need to put it back up before it rots in our field. We also need to deal with the fact that we have a no proper box office or merchandise area, a major congestion problem at the bar and entrance, and nowhere for all of you to socialize ....and you LOVE to socialize!! I think that's one of the best parts about this place.

Anyway, barn doctor Scott Campbell of Maine Mountain Post and Beam who lovingly took down our barn, will help us take care of both those problems. Yes, hopefully this spring, Scott will put that old girl back up, and he Jeff, Dave and Andy, will attach it to SMAC and make it a beautiful lobby area. It will house a large bar for Dave and Katy and if in the budget a stone fireplace is in the plan as well. It will be a great place to belly up to the bar, or just mingle before the shows and at intermission. There will be a real box office for Marlies and Suzy and a ton of room for artist merchandise. All our artists have loved coming here, but have been less than thrilled about the merchandise selling situation. Now they can spread out and you can browse a little more comfortably. It will also give us an extra serving area for the bigger shows and weddings. This will be the room you can chat and move around in comfortably without being shushed or moved out of the way!!! I think our wait staff will be the most grateful : >) They get pretty beat up trying to get in and out of the kitchen and bar areas. You have all been terrific sports about it, but its really time we made it more comfortable for everyone. This will also in the end generate more income for us per show, which will help us thrive and survive.

How will we pay for this? Not sure, but buying lots of tickets for shows is a good start. Buying tickets to the "Barn Raiser" is even better:

The Barn Raiser
Carol Noonan in Concert with Guitarist Duke Levine and Kevin Barry. Add and a small presentation by the handsome barn doctor himself, Scott Campbell and my famous spaghetti dinner and you have got a real night out by Geesum!
